So, a few of you have asked,"What's with the crutches?"...well, as many of you know we have had a heck of a time with broken bones and Cody...actually, at age 15 he has broken 7 bones. Anyway, here is the drama. Cody broke his wrist last year in the second week of basketball requiring surgery and 3 pins. Out for the season. Then over the summer he breaks his foot playing ball...luckily it's the summer and he has time to heal. Fall comes and basketball starts again. Two weeks in at our first tournament Cody turns wrong on his foot and asks to be pulled out...Well here I am, the competitive mom, thinking, "ARE YOU CRAZY! You don't ever ask the coach to pull you out of the game! Don't you want playing time?!" Then my poor son looks over at me as says, "Mom, I think I broke my foot again." Well after many doctor visits, xrays, and surgery involving a titanium rod, he is out for another season. He's been taking it well but he wants to play so bad. Three months between being in a wheelchair and walking on crutches can wear a person out. Hopefully we are on the road to recovery and he will have a few good years of healthy bones with no breaks!
